Maize

Maize or corn: call it whatever you like.

Maize is the most cultivated grain in the world. And it’s not hard to understand why given its legendary versatility. You can use it to make flour (for can’t-do-without polenta). Its grains can be boiled, toasted and popped (what else would you eat at the cinema?). Or you can gnaw on the grilled cob. And then there’s the oil made from maize germ, the liquor you’ll find throughout South America, animal feed. And if all that weren’t enough, maize is also used to produce energy and compostable plastics.
The least you can do is give it a special place in your kitchen cupboard.

Gluten-free.

Rich in iron and minerals.

What a story!

Aztec and Mayan people
cultivated maize in Mexico as early as the 5th century BC. It was considered a god.

Maize was discovered by Christopher Columbus, but was imported to Europe by the Spanish conquistador.

Maize is also called “Corn”
